Hierarchy: The Order of the Knights Templar Members and Titled Members Grand Commandery and District Commandery How to Start a District Commandery A District Commandery is smaller than a Grand Commandery as you only need two people to start it, both members must be Titled Members (Minimum Knight). Sir Knight Titled Members shown Yourself = 'District Commander Grand Master' = DC.KT.HKt.B A Friend = 'Assistant District Commander Grand Master'= ADC.KT.HKt.B Titled Membership through Opening a District Commandery If however you wish to start a District Commandery, but both of you are not Titled Members, you can petition for Titled Membership on the grounds that you wish to open a District Commandery; preferential favour will be given to your application to accept your Titled Membership petitions. You and your friend are now Council Members, (you may appoint future members to become Council Members) each Council member has a vote in the running of the Commandery, but the final decision lies with the District Commander Grand Master of the Commandery. Now compile a list of events for the members to attend (minimum 2 per year) for example: a Christmas Party, a New Year's Eve Party, Jacques de Molay Day, a Summer Party, a Halloween Party, Ascot, Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race, St Georges Day, American Independence Day, St Patrick's Day, Remembrance Sunday etc... Next have a meeting with your proposed 'Council Members' to discuss the objectives of your proposed Commandery/Branch. Topics should include: Venues for meetings, initial financing for any set up costs you may incur for things you wish to achieve (which includes legal fees, meeting rooms, website etc... Discuss appointments like Treasurer, Events Organiser, Secretary, Commander, Membership recruitment, marketing etc…The Main Knights Templar of Britannia will give you some commission on Regalia sold to you members to help fund your District Commandery. These commissions 'Funds' are to be used for the benefit of the members or to benefit your local community through charitable means.
