Order of the Knights Templar

Hierarchy: The Order of the Knights Templar

Members and Titled Members
Membership & Titled Membership is open to all honourable Men and Women worldwide.

Grand Commandery and District Commandery
There are two types of Commandery / Branches:

District Commandery

How to Start a District Commandery

A District Commandery is smaller than a Grand Commandery as you only need two people to start it, both members must be Titled Members (Minimum Knight).

Yourself = 'District Commander Grand Master' = DC.KT.HKt.B

A Friend = 'Assistant District Commander Grand Master'= ADC.KT.HKt.B

Titled Membership through Opening a District Commandery

If however you wish to start a District Commandery, but both of you are not Titled Members, you can petition for Titled Membership on the grounds that you wish to open a District Commandery; preferential favour will be given to your application to accept your Titled Membership petitions.

You and your friend are now Council Members, (you may appoint future members to become Council Members) each Council member has a vote in the running of the Commandery, but the final decision lies with the District Commander Grand Master of the Commandery.

Now compile a list of events for the members to attend (minimum 2 per year) for example: a Christmas Party, a New Year's Eve Party, Jacques de Molay Day, a Summer Party, a Halloween Party, Ascot, Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race, St Georges Day, American Independence Day, St Patrick's Day, Remembrance Sunday etc...

Next have a meeting with your proposed 'Council Members' to discuss the objectives of your proposed Commandery/Branch. Topics should include: Venues for meetings, initial financing for any set up costs you may incur for things you wish to achieve (which includes legal fees, meeting rooms, website etc... Discuss appointments like Treasurer, Events Organiser, Secretary, Commander, Membership recruitment, marketing etc…The Main Knights Templar of Britannia will give you some commission on Regalia sold to you members to help fund your District Commandery. These commissions 'Funds' are to be used for the benefit of the members or to benefit your local community through charitable means.

Registrations Abroad
If your proposed District Commandery is abroad you will need to check if any registrations are required as a District Commandery is officially a branch of a religious Order.

Tax Free Status
A District Commandery is a branch of the Main Order with certain Tax Free status benefits.

Petition
Compile an official petition letter of proposal including the above information on your proposed District Commandery formation and firstly email it to us.

Grand Commandery

How to Establish a Grand Commandery
First you must find 6 people to become council members to help run and organise your branch. 'Commandery Council Members' must be existing 'Titled Members' or prospective Titled Members on commencement of the Commandery/Branch. Each Council member has a vote in the running of the Commandery, but the final decision lies with the Commander/Grand Master of the Commandery.

Now compile a list of events for the members to attend (minimum 6 per year) for example: a Christmas Party, a New Year's Eve Party, Jacques de Molay Day, a Summer Party, a Halloween Party, Ascot, Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race, St Georges Day, American Independence Day, St Patrick's Day, Remembrance Sunday etc...

Next have a meeting with your proposed 'Council Members' to discuss the objectives of your proposed Commandery/Branch. Topics should include: Venues for meetings, initial financing for the set up cost (which includes legal fees, website with built in database management system, Commandery regalia, decorations & signs). Discuss appointments like Treasurer, Events Organiser, Secretary, Commander, Membership recruitment, marketing and principal benefit the proposed Commandery brings to the Knights Templars of Britannia. The Main Knights Templar of Britannia will give you some commission on Regalia sold to you members to help fund your District Commandery. These commissions 'Funds' are to be used for the benefit of the members or to benefit your local community through charitable means.

Registrations Abroad
If your proposed Commandery is abroad you will need to check if any registrations are required as a Commandery is officially a branch of a religious Order.
