Biography

Rev. “Darling” Laura Catherine (Sager) Derry, 26, of Petersburg, WV, formerly of Arkansaw, WV died on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.

Mrs. Derry was born on February 23, 1983 in Winchester, VA a daughter of Betty Combs Sager of Arkansaw, WV and the late Darlington L. “Dot” Sager. She was a Non Denominational Reverend currently enrolled at the West Virginia University. She was a certified Vet Technician, a 2003 graduate of the Rosedale Christian Academy in Winchester, VA and was a member of the Knights Templar.

Laura married L. David Derry on April 5, 2008 in Arkansaw, WV who is currently serving in the United States National Guard.

Surviving with her husband is her biological mother Lori Nuri of Winchester, VA; one sister: Rebecca Carraway of Herdon, VA; two brothers: David See of High View, WV; Wesley Yankey of Timberville, VA; two step sisters: Cynthia Sine of Wardensville, WV; Gloria Sager of Rio, WV and one step brother: Robert L. Sager or Rio, WV.

A memorial service will be held at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, WV on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Sherwin Tharp. Inurnment will be private.
